Welcome

You ever get the feeling that you have to get away from it all? When the life you have just isn’t enough anymore? I mean you go to college, get a job, and make good money. Then one day you wake up and realize it will be like this until the day you die. So eight years ago I began to free myself and see the world. Learning that you don’t own your possessions, they own you. Backpacking across Thailand in 2007 I had no idea my journeys would eventually bring me in to the heart of the Amazon jungle in northern Peru, where I would find myself sitting in a ceremonial hut with 34 other people and four shamans in front of us. At my feet was a bucket to puke in to and in my hands was a small cup with less than two ounces of a thick brown liquid that would soon prove to be the most foul thing I have ever tasted, they call it Ayahuasca.

Ayahuasca is a vine native to the Amazon that the indigenous people refer to as the “vine of the soul”. In western society they call it a hallucinogenic drug. The shaman simply refer to it as “La Medicina”, the ultimate medicine.

It was almost two years ago when I first heard about Ayahuasca, first on National Geographic and then on CNN. Then it started making inroads in various medical circles, seeming to cure a number of different disorders. There was something interesting happening and in a strange way it felt like it was calling me. I had to investigate this for myself, researching it a little, then a lot. I was awakening again and knew the only way to understand what was going on here was to experience it for myself. I thought I had an idea of what it was but it would quickly teach me that I knew nothing about it. [Begin the Ultimate Jouney]
